Shannon Bell

The bright voice answering the phone at the church these days is Ms. Shannon Bell. She has been on the job since June 8th.  After a week of orientation with out-going Office Administrator Kelly Blackmarr Carlile, Shannon “flew solo” for about six weeks and kept the office humming.

WITH WEDDINGS AT OUR CHURCH

We need to create a team of volunteers to handle the weddings. One volunteer will be assigned to work with each couple while they are making their plans and to attend the rehearsal and ceremony. A second volunteer may be needed to assist on the wedding day. We have several scheduled over the next few months so anyone who is interested can help at one of them and see what is involved.

Childcare Provided

6pm Dinner provided

6:45 Committee meetings commence.

8pm Wrap up, head home by 8:20 or so...

We have devised a great way for committees to accomplish their vital work and at the same time for new and more established members to get to know one another, at All Committee Night, which is held the fourth Tuesday of each month. We gather at six for fellowship and supper.

Then after a brief general "check-in," the committees break off for their individual meetings and return after an hour or so to report. This is a church where individiuals really can and do make a difference -- to the manner in which we worship, to the social justice programs we pursue, and to the recreational and fellowship activities that are such an integral part of our "family" life together.

About Habitat for Humanity --
Our Current Share-the-Plate Effort

Since its founding in 1983, the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity (the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International) and its supporters have built over 100 homes for Savannah, Georgia families. Our program is designed to make home ownership possible for low-income families that don't qualify for traditional loans, but have demonstrated the ability to repay a Habitat mortgage and are in urgent need of a safe, decent place to live.

As an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), the Coastal Empire office coordinates all aspects of Habitat home building in the Savannah area, including site selection. Each affiliate coordinates all aspects of Habitat home building in its local area - fundraising, building site selection, partner family selection and support, house construction and mortgage servicing.

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds simple, decent and affordable houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families.

The course will be taught by members of the Savannah chapter of the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans.
